Generating the RTE Installer

This section is relevant only for LDK Products/Entitlements.

The Generate Run-time Environment (RTE) Installer page enables you to create a Sentinel Runtime Environment (RTE) executable or DLL file that simplifies the installation process at the end user's site. You can embed the RTE executable or DLL in your software setup to create a ready-to-run Sentinel LDK protected and licensed application.

The input to this process is a V2C file containing your vendor specific data. For unlocked products, the V2C file also contains the unlocked product bundle data.

When packaging an RTE installer with a V2C file (for one or more Products in Sentinel EMS), you cannot include a product that only has the locking type SL-UserMode.

To generate the RTE installer:

• On the main menu, click Developer > RTE Installer. The RTE Installer page appears.
• From the Batch Code drop-down list, select a Batch Code.
• Select the type of file you want to generate in the Installer Type radio buttons:

  Operating System	File Type
  Windows	Application (EXE): Creates a Runtime Environment command line installer. Dynamically Linked Library (DLL): Creates a DLL for use with the Runtime Environment Installer API.
  Mac	Package (TAR archieve): Creates a Package (in a TAR archive) containing the Sentinel Run-time Installer GUI. In earlier versions of Sentinel LDK, the TAR file downloaded from EMS used to contain Sentinel Runtime.pkg that was further used to install the RTE. In this release, the structure of the TAR file has been changed. Therefore, to launch the RTE installer, you now need to run the SentinelRuntimeInstallerCLI file that is located inside the TAR file. Since the structure has been changed, the RTE installer can be launched without sudo privileges. The TAR file and EMS code that is used to generate the MAC (RTE) Installer has been modified. The installer no longer uses .sh files, therefore there is no need to run Shell scripts. Furthermore, this enhancement has simplified the installation process and helped to avoid security concerns.
  Linux	Package (TAR archieve): Creates a Package (in a TAR archive) containing the Sentinel Run-time Installer GUI.

• To include a bundle of Unlocked Products to the RTE installer:
  • Select Include V2C for Bundle of Unlocked Products. The V2C File Location field appears.
  • Click to browse to the location of the V2C file that contains the relevant data, and select the file.
• Click Generate. The File Download dialog box appears.
• Save the file.

  The default file/package name is haspdinst.exe, haspds_windows.dll, Sentinel_Runtime.tar, or aksusbd-x.x.x-i386.tar depending on the file type and operating system you selected.
