Managing Dynamic Memory

Dynamic memory is available in all Sentinel HL keys. Dynamic memory is significantly larger than the Default memory. However, dynamic memory space is shared between dynamic memory files (the space available to you for your applications, similar to default memory files) and license data (Features and Product). All space that is not utilized for license data can be used for dynamic memory files.

Dynamic memory can be divided into dynamic memory files. Each file is assigned an identifier, which is used by your application to refer to that file. You can assign a size to the file at the time you create it, or allow the file size to be assigned automatically based on the amount of data that is written to the file. The following types of dynamic memory files can be created:

To access the Dynamic Memory landing page, on the main menu click Catalog > Dynamic Memory. The left pane displays the list of all Dynamic Memory files and provides the following information:

Name A unique name of the Dynamic Memory file.
File ID An integer value that identifies the Dynamic Memory file.
Ref ID 1 Information that identifies the Dynamic Memory file in a different system, for example, a feature code in your company's ERP system.
Status Indicates whether the Dynamic Memory file is included in any product or not.
 
Deployed (already included in a product)
Not Deployed (not included in any product)
Actions
Enables you to Update, Delete, Restore, or make the Dynamic Memory file Obsolete.
Edit Memory Segment (Update the information stored in the Dynamic Memory file).
Delete / Restore / Obsolete (Delete, Restore, or make the Dynamic Memory file Obsolete).

Viewing the Details of a Dynamic Memory File

To view the details of a Dynamic Memory File, select a file from the left pane. The details are displayed in the right pane.

Tasks for Managing Dynamic Memory

In the Dynamic Memory page, the dynamic memory files are displayed.

New Memory

Define a new Dynamic Memory file and its properties.

See Creating Dynamic Memory for details.

View the properties of the selected Dynamic Memory file, and if the file is not deployed, to edit these properties.

> Obsolete/Restore Marks a Dynamic Memory file as obsolete and restore an obsolete memory file. Obsolete Dynamic Memory files are not available to be included in Products.
> Delete Delete the selected Dynamic Memory file. This task is listed only if the Dynamic Memory file is not currently included in a Product (not deployed).
